Existing symposiums and training seminars do not provide sufficient training to implement this technology in their offices, or lead to unsuccessful results after implementation in their office. Dr. Mecall received his doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1974. He subsequently received a Master of Science degree from the University of Iowa, where he studied bone physiology. Following his general dental training, Dr. Mecall completed his residency in Periodontology and 1 year fellowship in orthodontics at The University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1976. In 1983, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Mecall has been at the forefront of computer guided implant treatment and has authored numerous articles and has been published in several journals. He is a contributing author to three textbooks, Dental Applications of Computed Tomography, Computer Guided Implantology and Implant Therapy. Dr. Mecall is an international lecturer and consulted in the development of early SimPlant versions. He has utilized computed tomography since 1987 and provides Computer guided implant treatment planning courses for Materialise, USA. Dr. Mecall currently practices Periodontics in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dr. Mecall provides level 1 and level 2 computer guided implant treatment planning courses using SimPlant or Nobel Guide treatment planning software.
